As many predicted, mild temperatures and a too close to call race in both parties are driving large numbers of voters to polls across the state.

At Oyster River High School in Durham, voters streamed past campaign supporters to head into voting booths. Inside the school, town moderater Chris Reagan says that he's observed a steady flow of voters since the polls opened early this morning.

Voter turnout has been heavier than it was even last time and I'm expecting we may hit record turnout for today.

Reagan added that he has counted about 700 absentee ballots so far, and that he expects that by the end of the day, as many as 4,000 people will have voted.

If so, that's about a 30 percent jump from the last primary election.
