The Exeter High School gym was filled to the rafters and while many held up their hands when asked if they were still shopping for a candidate, they warmed to Barack Obama’s message of change. In his 40 minute speech, he alternated between broad themes and specific details of his plans for health care, education, Iraq, and energy.

Obama countered critics who equate his slogan of hope with naiveté.

CUT – I know how hard it’s going to be to deliver health care to every American. I know the drug companies and the insurance companies will fight tooth and nail to keep their profits.

Afterwards, Elaine Vandyke of Kingston found herself torn. She is drawn to Hillary Clinton but she said Obama did a fabulous job.

CUT you get a sense that he’s real and he’s inspiring

Vandyke says she wants to hear Clinton speak and see if she is equally moving.
