New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner is predicting a record turnout for Tuesday's primary.

New Hampshire Public Radio's Dan Gorenstein reports.

Web resources:

Gardner expects half a million people to cast ballots in the New Hampshire primary, or 60 percent of all registered voters.

Based on the number of absentee ballots requested from undeclared voters, Gardner believes more people will participate in the Democratic race.

The Secretary of State bases his record-setting projection on the rich field of candidates running.

"I know since I've been here, there hasn't been the variety in each party to choose from. There's someone for everyone."

Gardner says turnout should rival the state's general election numbers in a presidential year.

He says 50 thousand people will register on Election Day.
