Mike Huckabee Woos Voters in Henniker After Iowa Win
By Dianne Finch on Friday, January 4, 2008.
Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee quickly turned his attention to New Hampshire after his big win in Iowa. New Hampshire Public Radio’s Dianne Finch has more. The former governor of Arkansas picked up an electric guitar and wooed the crowd with some rock music. He spoke to about 500 voters at a rally in Henniker about tax reform and other topics that would likely appeal to fiscal conservatives. Polls have been showing Huckabee in third or fourth place in New Hampshire. But at least a few independent voters at the rally - including Andy Visser of Concord – say they’re now leaning toward a vote for him after hearing his speech at the rally. Visser says that Huckabee has only recently appeared on his radar – and that he finds him refreshingly honest. “And what resonated with me was that he has a sense that the president works for us – not the other way around. Before – maybe he was like Jimmy Carter – a person to look up but might not be effective he might not be able to be president. I’m a little more convinced now.” Visser, who has also been considering a vote for Barack Obama or John McCain, added that Huckabee’s skills on the guitar don’t hurt because it makes him more appealing to young people. Iowa Didn't Do Their Homework, Don't Let New Hampshire Be As Unprepared.
We had a musician from Hope, AR once already and look how that turned out.
The Huckster's ideas, which are borrowed from anyone else that would appeal to voters regardless of whether they are implementable or not, on the "Fair tax" are not implementable due to the 16th Amendment...It's a pipedream he's selling. His often touted position for a pro-life amendment is a bald-faced lie and I have the proof...it is also a pipedream as it can never be passed on a super-majority vote. The marriage protection amendment which he also fervently proposes as his position is then also a pipedream that could never be passed.
The Huckster is a con artist selling pipedreams to the uninformed...will you help stop him?
If Huckabee does as president what he did in Arkansas , we would be in trouble, he was for big government, raised taxes, and supported Illegals. He says he can't blame illegals children for what there parents do, but he failed to see just how many american children he blamed for illegals children and parents, Can't accept his thoughts on this subject. He would vote with Mccain /Kennedy / Reid/ Clinton and Obama on more and more for illegals and less for amercians especially the elderly
I was there. It was a media sideshow. There were more peaple there to see Chuck, than any thing else. Mama Kicks is a good band. Nothing about the war nothing about health care. I have nothing in common with this guy. thanks, Ken
