But Isn't Fire Part of Wilderness?

As forest fires continue to rage out west, New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest has recently had its own brush with fire.

One on Paugus and one on Osgood were both very small... each about an acre in size.

They are both under control, thanks to firefighting efforts, but they are being closely monitored.

Rebecca Oreskes is wilderness program leader for the White Mountain National Forest.

She told NHPR's Mark Bevis that the Forest Service weighs its options as it decides which fires to fight.
