Today in Exeter, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama spent an hour talking with six independent voters.

The focus was on cleaning up government and Obama said that out of all the presidential contenders, he has the strongest record of passing legislation that curtails the influence of lobbyists and business interests.

But when a voter asked him if he had to choose only one goal to achieve during his administration, Obama said it would have to be a successful energy policy.

"It helps our environment, our economy and our national security. And it would free up resources over time, then, to deal with what I think is the most important domestic issue, which I think is health care.”

Obama said that as president, he would run the most open and transparent government in history. He said when he puts together health care legislation, the planning sessions will be carried on C-SPAN.
