Democrat Barack Obama has won the endorsement of New Hampshire Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter.
New Hampshire Public Radio's Josh Rogers has more.
The announcement comes after months of Carol Shea-Porter saying she wouldn't endorse any primary candidate. But after meeting with all her party's hopefuls, the Rochester Democrat now says she feels compelled to act.
"I see someone who can gather our different voices and make us one voice in our country and to the world."
Barack Obama's campaign is co-chaired by Paul Hodes, New Hampshire's other congressman, but Shea-Porter, who enjoys the staunch backing of a network of grassroots activists, may be the more valuable endorsement.
Speaking to reporters, a grateful Obama said Shea-Porter embodies the sort of change he hopes to bring to Washington.
Obama: "Carol, thank you."
Shea-Porter: "Thank you, it's a privilege and an honor, we'll see you soon."
Obama: "I look forward to it."
