Republican Mitt Romney was joined on the campaign trail today by another former Massachusetts governor - William Weld.

William Weld's appearance with Mitt Romney comes a week after another former Massachusetts governor, Paul Celucci, came north to back Rudy Giuliani and to criticize Romney's tax record.

Speaking to a Concord Rotary Club, former governor Weld hailed Romney's fiscal leadership and said he's simply the most qualified candidate.

"This guy is the real deal. He has positions of such force and such clarity in the presidential race that I think when people really focus on the candidates it's not even going to be close."

But Weld and Romney do have some key differences. Unlike Romney, Weld favors same-sex marriage, supports Roe v. Wade and has moderate views on illegal immigration.

When asked about those differences, Weld told reporters that a president's responsibilities are multifarious and deep, and that Mitt Romney is equipped to handle them.
