Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich today got a warm reception from hundreds of students at Concord High School.

But he was challenged on his opposition to the Iraq war.

New Hampshire Public Radio's David Darman has more.

Web resources:

Congressman Dennis Kucinich told the students that the Bush Administration lied from the beginning about the danger Iraq posed to the United States.

But a student who had joined the National Guard challenged his position.

He asked the congressman if the war hadn't been necessary, since Saddam Hussein had been a tyrant.

But Kucinich refrained that student's logic for all the students.

"The question is this: does America have the right, do we have the right, to go into any country we choose to change its leadership? Do we have that right? Do we?"

Kucinich also told the students he supported universal health care, and a policy of giving every American who wants one a job.

But Congressman Kucinich has a lot of ground to make up to catch the frontrunners in his party.

According to the latest UNH poll, Kucinich is far behind Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama among the state's Democratic voters.
