On Tuesday, Nashua residents cast their votes for mayor in a non-partisan election.
NHPR Correspondent Sheryl Rich-Kern reports.
Nashua's two mayoral candidates, Jim Tollner and Donnalee Lozeau, have less than 24 hours to make impressions on the minds of city voters.
To date, they've raised a nearly even amount of contributions, between 67 and 74 thousand dollars.
City Clerk Paul Bergeron says he doesn't expect a huge turnout compared to what the presidential primary will bring, but Bergeron anticipates at least 35 percent of registered voters will want to have their say on certain subjects.
"Some of the hot topic issues now are contracts, because the cost of health insurance impacts what the city has to pay. In addition, there's been a lot of focus on some of the crime activity in certain neighborhoods."
Observers say they don't expect anything close to a landslide. City officials will announce the top vote-getter late Tuesday evening.
