Gravel Files For Primary at State House
By Josh Rogers on Wednesday, October 31, 2007.
Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel says Congress and the Bush administration lack proof that Iran is building nuclear weapons, but are bent on finding an excuse to go to war. Gravel added that Iran has a right to supply weapons to Iraqi insurgents, since Americans are spending millions of dollars to destabilize their government. Gravel made the comments after filing candidacy papers Thursday afternoon to get on the New Hampshire primary ballot. Gravel was dismissive of his primary rivals. "Just listen to 'em - it's all politics as usual. 'Elect us, we're going to be your leaders, we're going to do the job...' They can't do squat. They really can't. Look at the problems we've got." Gravel also criticized fellow Democrats for not speaking out when he was excluded from Tuesday's debate in Philadelphia, which was broadcast on MSNBC. Debate organizers said Gravel was left out because he did not meet fundraising and polling thresholds. Gravel blames the exclusion on General Electric, MSNBC's parent company, though he admits he has no proof. Post a comment
