Our 25 in 25 series continues with longtime Commissioner of Agriculture and homegrown New Hampshirite Steve Taylor. For the last quarter century, Taylor has overseen the state’s farms, farmlands and all that’s produced from them. He retires this week. We’ll talk with Taylor about his extensive career as a farmer, newspaperman and public official, and how agriculture has changed in the Granite State over the past quarter century.

Your best source of

Your best source of information to locally grown food in the greater Upper Valley: Vital Communities publishes the VALLEY FOOD & FARM GUIDE each year; an online version is available at vitalcommunities.org . The Guide covers 140 towns in NH and VT, as far south as Keene and Brattleboro, and north to Barre, VT, and Monroe and Sugar Hill, NH. It includes descriptions of all types of farms, farmers' markets, restaurants and stores that emphasize local food, and other activities that can be done on farms (such as farm tours, overnight stays, pick-your-own, children's activities, etc).
With the holiday season soon approaching, one can also use the Guide to identify gift ideas that support local agriculture!
