At Merrimack High School today, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards touted his plan to make college affordable.

The former North Carolina Senator says he wants the government to pay for tuition and books at a state or community college for qualified students who commit to work 10 hours a week.

When asked how he would lead a younger generation, Edwards says it's important that the President listen to young people and reestablish trust.

"We've seen a lot of damage done over the last seven years in the relationship between the President and the American people. A lot of Americans just don't trust the President any more. And I think people need to trust - they need to feel like if it's good or bad, the President will tell you the truth."

Edwards also talked about the need to reform No Child Left Behind by placing less importance on standardized testing and instead focus on evaluating a student as an individual.
