Republican John McCain will begin airing his first television ads in New Hampshire this weekend.

New Hampshire Public Radio's Josh Rogers has more.

Web resources:

Both ads feature footage of John McCain as a prisoner of war and talking to Ronald Reagan.

The first, a thirty second spot titled "Live Free," also touts McCain's experience.

The ad alludes to McCain's victory here in the 2000 primary, and includes audio of the candidate invoking a motto of particular local relevance:

"Live free or die" (applause)

The second spot highlights footage of a bedridden McCain being interviewed as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.

A narrator then notes that "one man sacrificed for his country."

The Arizona Senator is alone among top Republican candidates in having military experience.

The ads come on the heels of local polls that show McCain picking up ground in a tightening GOP race.

The ads will begin running on WMUR this weekend.
