It's Friday, the day we check in with a member of the 36-43rd Company of the New Hampshire National Guard.

The 36-43rd is a maintenance company headquartered in Concord.

But its 150 members have been stationed in Iraq since the fall, not doing maintenance, but guarding a detention center outside of Baghdad.

Staff Sargeant Robert Blad is a New Hampshire native who lives in Hill, with his wife Sonya and their daughter Paige.

His full time job back home is to keep the unit rolling.

And as he tells NHPR's Mark Bevis, he has the same job in Baghdad.
