Speaking in Bedford today Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani laid out what he's calling his 12 commitments to the American people.

The former New York mayor says his campaign priorities reflect his optimism about the nation's future. Prime among them was a promise to fight terrorism.

Giuliani also pledged to end illegal immigration, promote school choice, decrease abortion, reduce government spending and cut taxes.

"Here's the great genius of the American people: we do things that people don't expect can be done. But you've got to learn to energize people. Nobody understands that better than the Live Free or Die state. This is not about government - [applause] - this is not about government. It's about you."

Giuliani promised to appoint judges who will strictly interpret the Constitution and harness market forces to lower the cost of health care and strengthen the country's reputation abroad.

He says he'll flesh out and possibly increase his commitments as his candidacy unfolds, adding that he's open to suggestions from the public.
