Senator Edwards Campaign

Working for a non-profit is interesting during theis primary season. I am facinated in the creative ways candidates approach us. Recently I was contacted by a representative of the Edwards Campaign who was looking for an opportunity to come speak at our Girls Center. While Girls Incorporated does not affiliate (as an agency) for any political party or candidate opportunities like this are educational for the girls we serve.

Apparently Senator Edwards daughter, Kate, in an effort to help her Dad's campaign has decided to run a book drive. I guess she does not like to speak directly to the masses. Her goal is to collect books that would be donated to local schools and non-profits. She was able to talk about what a Senator was without advocating for a presidential candidate. It was the 6 or 7 support staff that came with her wearing Edwards buttons! I told them to put the stickers away!

Our girls enjoyed being able to tell her their favorite books and listening to the story she read - I think everyone had a really nice time -
