Cold Sweats?

Let the race begin, or maybe not. The announcement that Gen Clark was entering the race would seem to fill the dance card with 10 candidates. At least that is what I thought, until the NY Daily News reported that Bill Clinton said that his wife is a maybe. If you are John Kerry do you wake up in the middle of the night in cold sweats, wondering how in the world a Governor from Vermont did this to me? The Dean craze is unbelievable. Two weeks ago, he had 300 people to an organizational meeting in NH for three hours. The amazing part was that the candidate was not in attendance. I have never seen so many people wearing a candidate's button day to day as I have with Dean. I was at the Bruce Springsteen Saturday show at Fenway Park and the guy selling hot dogs in the stands was wearing a button. I also saw someone one the plane last night from BWI to Manchester wearing a Dean button. As the focus shifts to Gen. Clark for a couple of days it will be interesting to see if the focus quickly returns to Dean. The early and quick Dean surge has changed the dynamic, made a bunch of procrastinators look silly and given the media a darling to ride. Let's see if it lasts.
