New Hampshire's first in the nation presidential primary pulled in another Republican hopeful today.
His name is not well known, but Republican John Cox has officially entered the race and opened a campaign office in Manchester.
NHPR corespondant Brian Early reports.
He's a self-made man, who says he grew up in a family of modest means. Now at 51, Republican presidential hopeful John Cox, from Illinois, wants to change the course of politics.
"We need to return to statesmanship. We need to return to people who care about the policy that we're doing, and not their personal ambition and not making money. Our politics today is all about a business of politics, it's all about making money. It's not about the principle of what we need to follow."
Cox says he's tired of career politicians. In 2000, he ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives, and two years later for the Senate, both from Illinois. The father of four has served on a school board, a zoning board, and with charity organizations like the American Cancer Society.
He calls himself a Reagan Republican - a fiscal and social conservative - and he says he'd scrap the IRS and income tax for a national sales tax.
