To Every Listener: A Letter From The Leadership and Staff of NHPR

On behalf of the board and staff, we are proud to share news of NHPR’s Campaign for 21st Century Radio. Here and tomorrow, the message is clear. Journalism is held to purposeful standards. Here and tomorrow, seminal ideas are seeing innovative, statewide success. As an organization, our commitment is to unifying and engaging every listener, in New Hampshire and beyond. Here, the future is sound.

Our world is changing. Our understanding of what’s cool is shifting from bling to green. Our sense of what it means to be an individual is asking a co-worker to carpool. Our brightest contemporaries are our children. Our next is now.

Since 1981, NHPR has been part of a revered network. We strive to bring every listener exemplary programming, statewide. We are building a new broadcast center to secure New Hampshire’s public radio future – in an age of increasingly difficult, information navigation.

NHPR news – and thought-provoking programming – is delivered by the finest writers, producers and reporters this market fosters.  It’s every listener’s intelligent curiosity that ensures they have a future in New Hampshire public radio.

The Campaign for 21st Century Radio is a $6.5 million capital campaign which provides NHPR with a state-of-the-art broadcast facility, the ability to increase the quality and reach of our coverage throughout the state, and the resources to provide our content online and on-demand, in order to meet the needs of future audiences.  It will allow us to provide at least two distinct programming channels, increasing significantly the station’s public service. To date we have raised over $5.3 million toward our goal.

And so it is with great excitement that we announce NHPR’s award of a $250,000 Challenge Grant from the prestigious Kresge Foundation. This is where you and every listener statewide, comes in. In order for us to secure this $250,000, we must raise $1,000,000. We’re inviting you to participate in our Campaign for 21st Century Radio with your tax-deductible contribution by the end of the year.  We are seeking support to meet this generous 4:1 challenge.

As a testament to our own belief in the mission to provide future generations with innovative public radio, we have each donated at least the suggested $50.

Looking forward, as a reminder of all of our friends’ contributions, every listener who donates $50 will have their name inscribed on the Every Listener Wall in our soon-to-be new home at 2 Pillsbury Street in Concord. And families donating $50 for family members will see those names inscribed as well – preserving a legacy of their own dedication and generosity, as well as securing NHPR’s.

We are sincere when we say we cannot do this without your generosity, and that of every listener.

NHPR, in concert with your generous support, is a source of our collective pride. Your tax-deductible gift of $50 for each family member makes it something of which your children and grandchildren can be proud. Join us, and every listener, in creating a sound future for NHPR.
