Turnout High in Manchester
By Debra Daigle on Tuesday, November 7, 2006.
Voters are flocking to the polls across New Hampshire today, and officials are expecting a high turnout. NHPR Correspondent Debra Daigle reports from Manchester. (sounds of campaign supporters) Heavy voter turnout is being reported everywhere in Manchester, including Ward 3, where dozens of campaign workers are holding signs while loudly encouraging people to vote for their candidate. City Clerk Leo Bernier is predicting a nearly sixty percent turnout: "Well, I'm really happy. I just came back from the wards, and the numbers are higher than I anticipated. This city will probably - thirty thousand votes cast today." Bernier says they also have eighteen hundred absentee ballots, up from twelve hundred in 2002. He says both Democrats and Republicans have done an excellent job of pulling the votes out. For NHPR News, this is Debra Daigle in Manchester. Post a comment
