Manchester Police Officer Michael Briggs will be laid to rest tomorrow, after a traditional police procession and a memorial service funeral at the Fisher Cats Stadium.

NHPR Correspondent Debra Daigle reports.

The funeral procession for slain officer Michael Briggs begins at 9 am, in front of the Lambert funeral home on Elm Street.

Retired police sergeant Mark Fouke, who came out of retirement for Briggs, says hundreds of law enforcement officials from around the region are expected to march from the funeral home to the city's ballpark, for an 11 o'clock service:

"A lot of setup, a lot of logistics. So much cooperation from the community, from other police officers and jurisdictions all over the state and country. This will come together, it will be something for the community to see, to remember, and to bring a lot of closure to everyone that's here and involved."

Fouke says a riderless horse, the symbol for an officer killed in the line of duty, will follow the hearse carrying Briggs' body. Elm Street will be shut down for a three mile stretch along the funeral route. A private burial will be held at the New Rye Cemetery in Epsom, where Officer Briggs grew up.
