An enthusiastic Democrat, Carol Shea Porter is promising a clean campaign against her Republican opponent incumbent First District Congressman Jeb Bradley.

NHPR Correspondent Roger Wood reports.

Web resources:

"I'm calling on everybody to help us, to keep this ball going, because on November 7th, we are going to Washington!" (applause)

That's the Democratic nominee, thanking supporters at her victory celebration in Portsmouth. She said she was humbled by the win, and feels that voters want changes in Washington.

"We have to start that battle for health care for all now. We need to get out of Iraq and concentrate on Afghanistan, and other problems that we have. And we need to take care of that deficit, because that deficit is crippling us."

Carol Shea-Porter says she wants her Republican opponent, Jeb Bradley, to debate her every week before the November general election.
