In other North Country news, Governor Jeanne Shaheen was in Berlin this afternoon meeting with town officials about the financial situation at the American Pulp and Paper Company.
The company has missed tax payments not only to Berlin but to Gorham, Dalton, Shelbourne, and Winchester.
Payroll checks to some of the company?s 850 employees have bounced.
But as reporter Edith Tucker, with the Coos County Democrat pointed out to NHPR?s Mark Bevis, the problems at Pulp and Paper go far beyond its payroll.
