Brown appeared as the keynote speaker at a gala held by the Child Advocacy Center of Hillsborough County.

The organization provides support for sexually abused children in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen says she will support John Kerry for Secretary of State.

President Barack Obama is expected to tap the Massachusetts Senator to replace Hillary Clinton, who is stepping down.

In Hudson on Monday, Shaheen said Kerry is more than qualified for the job.

“I worked on his campaign to become president. I think he’s got a lot of experience internationally. I’ve served with him on the foreign relations committee for the last four years. I think he’d be terrific.”

Senator Jeanne Shaheen says she supports a federal ban on assault rifles.

But Shaheen says more needs to be done to prevent tragedies like the one that happened in Newtown, Connecticut Friday.

Shaheen says there needs to be a comprehensive response to the school shooting.

Twenty-six people were killed in the shooting, including 20 children.

Shaheen says the nation must make sure mental health services are available for those who need it.

DOE To Shaheen: No Problem With Northern Pass Contractor Selection

A U.S. Department of Energy official has told Senator Jeanne Shaheen that the federal agency did nothing wrong in approving several contractors to work on the Northern Pass project, dismissing allegations to the contrary from the Conservation Law Foundation.

Shaheen wrote the DOE in mid-October saying she was concerned about allegations made by the foundation.

The CLF said it used the Freedom-of-Information Act to obtain a series of emails between the federal agency and a lawyer for Northern Pass.

With a Jan. 1 deadline for the so-called fiscal cliff looming, New Hampshire’s senators are in the Granite State and discussing what needs to be done to reach a deal.

At an event meant to celebrate New Hampshire’s all-female delegation last week, the most excited crowd reaction came when the discussion turned to dealing with the nation’s fiscal issues.

“The biggest issue for me is that we are 16 trillion in debt," Sen. Kelly Ayotte said during a celebration of the state's all-female delegation last week.

Thursday New Hampshire’s senators voted along party lines as the Senate rejected an amendment to unwind a controversial new contraceptive rule from the Obama Administration.

Instead of requiring religious institutions to provide birth control in their health care plans, the White House pivoted and is now forcing insurance companies to provide contraception free of charge. Missouri Senator Roy Blunt’s amendment would have allowed employers to decide their own coverage based upon their religious beliefs. Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte supported the amendment.
