Medicare to Withhold Payments to Hospitals for Infecting Patients

Under a new federal law, New Hampshire’s hospitals will soon pay a financial price if a patient picks up an infection during a hospital stay.

For Medicare and Medicaid patients, Washington plans to stop paying hospitals for treating illnesses acquired at hospitals.

New Hampshire hospitals are concerned about how the plans would be implemented, but some say it could help improve quality.

Fred Thompson Speaks in Bedford

Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson spoke in Bedford at a fundraiser for State Senate Republicans. Thompson, who is also known for his acting work in television and movies, is considering a run for the presidency.

David Isay and StoryCorps

Award-winning radio documentary producer David Isay has been telling stories with sound for two decades. He founded StoryCorps two years ago, with the idea of sending two mobile recording studios all across the country, collecting stories of everyday people. Now, StoryCorps is coming to New Hampshire and will be parked outside the State House in Concord starting July 5th. We’ll talk with Isay about his long career in radio, what the StoryCorps project is all about, and how much the art of telling stories with sound has changed in the last twenty years.

Musician Laurel Brauns

Since then, she's established herself as a fixture of the Seacoast Music Scene. Tonight on the Front Porch, she returns with her guitar to play songs off her brand new album, Closed for the Season.
