Town Prepares for Police Officer's Funeral

The town of Franconia is reeling from a tragic shooting last Friday that claimed the life of two local residents.

One of them was a police officer asnd local prosecutor.

The other was a local resident and member of a well known family.

NHPR correspondent Todd Wellington has the story.

Obsession: Fact and Fiction

Obsessions come in different forms. We're going to look at two forms of it during this program. Author Thomas Christopher Greene writes about a young man's obsession for a beautiful girl in his new murder/thriller "Envious Moon." We'll look at how issues of class and violence play out in obsessives ways in a fiction way.
Also in the show, a report about a real man whose obsession has led him to collect more than 1,000 pairs of Nike basketball shoes. Reporter Dan Epstein visits the curiously meticulous home of sneaker fiend Jos Mansell. The story comes to us from the Public Radio Exchange.

We'll also hear another PRX story about being obsessed by having technology on the brain for producer Joan Schuman.

New Hampshire's Education Funding Impasse

For more than fifteen years debate over the state’s obligation to schools has been the unsolvable problem. Despite multiple Supreme Court rulings and now, a proposed amendment by a popular governor – so far, no one’s been able to come up with an acceptable plan. We’ll explore what it would take to finally end this endless debate.
