Flood Damage To Phones Hurting Some Local Businesses

We've heard alot about the damage to homes, businesses, and roads from this weeks storms.

But even people who were not swamped by flood waters are feeling the effects.

When the Lamprey River flooded the Verizon switching station in Raymond, some 6 thousand phone lines were knocked out completely.

And that's meant that businesses that rely on the phone for customers are taking a big hit.

Jeff Kantor owns CarWorld.

They sell recycled car parts.....mostly over the phone.

And he tells NHPR's Mark Bevis, if it goes on much longer, he may have to lay people off.

HPV Vaccine Not Fully Tested on Young Girls Says Dartmouth Researcher

Across the country legislators are considering bills that call on health departments to vaccinate young women against a virus that causes cervical cancer.

New Hampshire was one of the first states to offer the vaccine free to girls aged 11 to 18 as part of its universal vaccination program.

More than a dozen states are looking at requiring the injections before girls enter sixth grade.

But the Dartmouth Medical Center researcher who led the clinical trials for the vaccine warns that it may be risky for young girls.

The Maintenance Company has been guarding a detention center just outside of Baghdad.
