Archives...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of DataBy Liz Bulkley on Tuesday, January 9, 2007.It's difficult to survive in modern America without creating a trail of data everywhere you go. From ATM machines and grocery store discount cards to every Google search we've ever made, computers can piece together a profile of who we are and what we do -- whether we want them to or not. Tonight on the Front Porch, we'll meet the artistic designer behind an elaborate, multi-media performance that raises questions about surveillance through data. And we'll find out how businesses are using this data for the benefit of the consumer. Our guests are: Marianne Weems, artistic director of The Builders Association, a New York-based theater performance and media company. Their production, SUPER VISION, is playing at Dartmouth's Hopkins Center for the Arts this weekend. John Marshall, adjunct associate professor of business administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College DRED Commissioner George BaldBy Richard Ager on Tuesday, January 9, 2007.After stints as the top guy at DRED and then Pease, George Bald is back at the Department of Resources and Economic Development, balancing the competing needs of conserving our natural resources and also developing them. We'll talk with him about his top priorities for the new year as we continue our series of interviews with the top leaders in Granite State government. |
