High Court Tosses Out Ballot Law

Democrats exhult and key Republicans fume over ruling says state the can't give top billing on election ballots to candidates whose party won the previous election. The ruling also also barred the practice of alphabetizing names of candidates of the same party running for the same office. The secretary of state, meanwhile, says the order could make it hard to maintain the current election calendar.

The Don Campbell Band

Tonight on the Front Porch, we'll hear the music and stories of Don Campbell. The country rocker comes from Maine, but he spends his winters writing and recording in Nashville. Don visited the NHPR studios in May, right after he got back from a recent trip down South. He brought his guitar with him, and he performed some of his new material for us.

Bishop John McCormack

Bishop John McCormack joins us for a one-on-one interview about the Catholic Diocese of Manchester, which covers the state of New Hampshire. Churches are closing, parishes merging and some Catholics are upset. The Diocese says it understands well their feelings, but the moves are all part of an ongoing re-configuration, reflecting priest shortages felt here and nationwide. Laura's guest is Bishop John McCormack of the Diocese of Manchester.
