If Burack is confirmed by the Executive Council he would replace Commissioner Mike Nolin, whose term has expired. What To Do About Guantanamo?By Julie Donnelly on Friday, July 14, 2006.Members of Congress have set out to devise a new judicial process for detainees currently held at the US base in Guantanamo, Cuba. Last month, the US Supreme Court decided that the Bush Administration's military tribunals were unconstitutional. And the decision has led the Pentagon's admission that detainees are entitled to protections guaranteed by the Geneva Conventions. Repair It or Remove ItBy Debra Daigle on Friday, July 14, 2006.Across New Hampshire, state officials have cited more than 100 public and private dams as needing repair. Some are in worse shape than others. But the worst, and there are about 20 of them, are in such a bad state that the owners have been warned to repair the dam ....or remove it. The Black Brook Dam in Manchester is on that hit list. And if city officials don't take action, Manchester could face stiff penalties. NHPR Correspondent Debra Daigle reports.
