Governor John Lynch announced he will nominate Tom Burack as commissioner of the Department of Environmental Services.

If Burack is confirmed by the Executive Council he would replace Commissioner Mike Nolin, whose term has expired.

Environmental groups around the state are excited by Burack’s nomination—and by Nolin’s potential departure.

New Hampshire Public Radio’s Kerry Grens reports.

Across New Hampshire, state officials have cited more than 100 public and private dams as needing repair.

Some are in worse shape than others.

But the worst, and there are about 20 of them, are in such a bad state that the owners have been warned to repair the dam ....or remove it.

The Black Brook Dam in Manchester is on that hit list.

And if city officials don't take action, Manchester could face stiff penalties.

Musicians Kris Delmhorst and Peter Mulvey are sharing the stage in venues across New England as part of their summer tour, and they're performing Friday night at Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry. Delmhorst is a musician/poet/songwriter; her new CD is "Strange Conversation." Mulvey is a composer, singer, and musician whose new CD is titled "The Knuckleball Suite."
