Donald Hall -- New U.S. Poet Laureate

Donald Hall, New Hampshire's most celebrated living writer, has been named U.S. Poet laureate. When people ask him what he writes about, he says "New Hampshire, Love and Death." We'll explore the depths of his work, and how his new role will affect his life and his art.

Bike Week's Wall of Death

All this week, New Hampshire Public Radio is bringing you some of the sights and sounds of bike week in Laconia.

Today, the Wall of Death.

It's a regular attraction at Bike Week...and it draws the crowds.

A motorcycle rider uses centrifugal force to hold him and his bike horizontal as he rides around the inside of what looks like a very large barrel.

Getting a Boost in Baseball

Talk of steroid use has “shot up” once again in the world of major league baseball. In addition to home run king Barry Bonds...now an Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher is suspected and – he’s naming names of many others. We’ll look at how these drugs have changed baseball and what the impact may be on the next generation of young athletes. Laura's guests are Vin Sylvia, Deputy Managing Director of Sports for the New Hampshire Union Leader and Sunday News and Peter Roby, Director of the Center for the Study of Sports in Society at Northeastern University. We'll also hear from Dennis McManus, Head Baseball Coach at Plymouth State University.
