Anthony Romero took over the top seat of the American Civil Liberties Union one week before the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Since then, he’s led efforts to hold government officials accountable for the treatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib, to advocate for gay marriage and more recently, working with issues like domestic spying and immigration rights. But his work has not been done without much criticism. Today on The Exchange, Anthony Romero joins us to talk about the ACLU’s work... its victories, its challenges and the direction he hopes to lead the ACLU in the future.
