Alpacas: New Hampshire's Newest Farm Animal

By Rebecca Kaufman on Thursday, February 2, 2006.

Take a drive on New Hampshire’s back roads and it’s pretty likely you’ll spot grazing cows, horses, or sheep. But you also may stumble across an animal that looks a bit unfamiliar. Changes in UNH's Athletic Programs / Richard Feynman Opera

By Shay Zeller on Thursday, February 2, 2006.

Tonight on the Front Porch, we examine the major cuts and reorganization announced by UNH's Athletic Department this week. We'll talk with Welch Suggs of the Knight Commission about what appears to be a trend across the nation.

We'll also look at the intersection of art and quantum theory. Physicist Richard Feynman captured the imagination of many Americans in the 1950s and '60s with his charisma and groundbreaking ideas. Now a new opera celebrates the Nobel Prize winner's life. The avant-garde production features one actor and four drummers. We'll meet the work's composer, Jack Vees. Jack is the Operations Director of the Yale Center for Studies in Music Technology.

By Laura Knoy on Thursday, February 2, 2006.

As thrilling as a good bank chase scene is in the movies--a gangster on the run with bags of cash--the reality is these crimes are a real problem. In recent months, there’s been an average of one bank robbery a week in New Hampshire. We’ll find out why and look at new efforts underway to stop these crimes. Laura is joined by Jay Fallon, FBI Agent in New Hampshire, and William Rehder, retired FBI agent and author of "Where the Money Is: True Tales from the Bank Robbery Capital of the World". We will also hear from Jerry Little, President of the New Hampshire Bankers Association.
