Manchester Mourns Death of Police Officer Michael Briggs

Manchester is mourning the death of one of the city's finest:

Police Officer Michael Briggs was killed in the line of duty this week on the city's east side.

NHPR Correspondent Debra Daigle reports, whether people knew the bike patrol cop well, or just casually, everyone in town seems to be feeling the loss.

H.P. Lovecraft

New England writer H.P. Lovecraft lived an unpublished life as a horror, fantasy and science fiction writer during the early/mid 1900's. Today his appeal is huge; his work is dark, sometimes weird, and highly imaginative. We're going to look at the life and mind of H.P. Lovecraft in anticipation of this weekend's Lovecraft in Vermont festival in Brattleboro.

Our guest is Stephen Bisset, cartoonist, writer and instructor at the Center for Cartoon Studies. Steve is highly regarded as an expert in Lovecraft film adaptations, and he'll be presenting some of those films at this weekend's event.

Top Lawmakers Push For Prosecution Money In Briggs Killing

Key lawmakers moved quickly Wednesday to get behind the likely death penalty prosecution of the accused killer of Manchester Police Officer Michael Briggs.

The legislature's joint fiscal committee voted unanimously to budget 420 thousand dollars to cover some of the legal costs the state will absorb as prosecutors seek capital murder charges against Michael 'Stix' Addison.

New Hampshire Public Radio's Josh Rogers has more.
