Landlords Look for Leverage

Should landlords be able to evict a tenant when the lease expires?

Last year, the state Supreme Court said no- landlords must have more cause than that to kick someone out.

But now, a bill has been introduced to overturn the court's decision.

New Hampshire Public Radio's Dan Gorenstein reports.

Proposed Charter School Would Focus on Sciences

Seven charter schools are now open or approved to open in the state.
Charter school advocates are hoping to add another one to the list: the Academy of Science and Design.
If approved, it would be the first charter school that focuses on science, math and engineering.
And it would also be the first one sponsored by a college.

Atheism in the 21st Century

Dartmouth philosopher Walter Sinnott-Armstrong is convinced religion provides comfort but that it lacks reality. He's a determined atheist whose tenure at Dartmouth College assures him a secure voice in what is often a controversial issue. He'll explore the meaning of life as a non-believer.

Non-Profit Taxes

More New Hampshire communities are eyeing the not-for-profit sector, charities, hospitals, and an artist colony, as potential contributors for tax dollars. Traditionally, non-profit groups have been considered public goods and therefore exempt from the tax-man, but that attitude could be changing. Today we examine this taxing debate over non-profits. Laura’s guests are Brad Cook, attorney at Sheehan Phinney Bass and Green, and Maura Carroll, legal counsel for the Local Government Center.
