House Tackles Immigration Reform

House lawmakers Wednesday plowed through five bills attempting to curb illegal immigration.

The measures ranged from expanding the definition of criminal trespassing to making it illegal to bring an undocumented individual into the state.

New Hampshire Public Radio's Dan Gorenstein reports, underneath all the legislation is a concern that illegal immigrants threaten the state's economic and physical safety.

Allegation of Sleeping Judge Raises Questions

The state's judicial conduct committee is now looking into claims that Rockingham County Superior Judge Patricia Coffey slept during a trial that sent a man to jail for at least 23 years.Judge Coffey disputes the allegation. She has categorically denied ever sleeping in court during her 15 years on the bench.But a poll of jurors by the public defenders office found two who said Coffey did nod off during the June trial. And since then, more people have come forward with claims that Coffey slept during other proceedings. New Hampshire Public Radio's Josh Rogers spoke to watchers of judicial conduct and filed this report.

The Kronos Quartet / Bode Miller Reaction

For over 30 years the Kronos Quartet has pushed the envelope as far as what can be done with just two violins, a viola, and a cello. They’ve collaborated with pop icons in American music and Film, and their newest CD dives into the music of India's famed Bollywood. Kronos is in New Hampshire this week to unveil two world-premier works. Tonight we’ll meet Violinist and Artistic Director David Harrington and listen to some of the music off the new album.

We'll also talk with Jack McEnany about fallout over champion skier Bode Miller's comments in a recent "60 Minutes" interview that have angered the U.S. Ski Federation. Jack McEnany recently co-authored a book with Miller called Bode: Go Fast, Be Good, Have Fun. We'll talk with him about Bode's professional and personal drive and his reaction to the recent buzz over Sunday's controversial interview.
