Senate Majority Calls Session To Oust Eaton

State Senate to convene Friday for what could turn out to be Senate President Tom Eaton's last day as the Senate's top officer. Fourteen of Eaton colleagues requested the meeting Wednesday. Their stated purpose: the election of new officers.

NH Joins Suit Against US Dept of Energy

New Hampshire has joined 13 other states in a federal lawsuit against the US Government.

The states are demanding that Department of Energy tighten energy efficiency standards.

As NHPR's Mark Bevis reports, this is only the most recent example of a strategy to forge multi-state law suits.

NH Trains for Katrina Disaster

IN THE WAKE OF HURRICANE KATRINA, THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IS PROVIDING EMERGENCY FOOD AND HOUSING TO 142-THOUSAND PEOPLE. IT IS THE LARGEST RESPONSE TO A SINGLE NATURAL DISASTER IN THE ORGANIZATION’S 125-YEAR HISTORY. THE RELIEF IS PROVIDED BY AN ARMY OF CLOSE TO 6-THOUSAND VOLUNTEERS.
