Governor John Lynch says he hopes to save the state money and improve the environment by limiting government energy use.
He has issued an executive order requiring state agencies to cut energy use by 10%.

New research by Economics Professor Richard England at the University of New Hampshire suggests that making a change in how property taxes are computed might help build a stronger economy.
He proposes implementing a two rate property tax system, instead of the familiar one rate system.
Professor England performed the study in Dover with a fellow economist from Ohio State University.
England explained during a phone conversation that struggling communities could get the most benefit from a two rate property tax.

The Department of Employment Security recently announced some good news for 187 soon to be laid off workers at the Molex Corporation in Guilford.
They qualify for a federal assistance program that will help train them and help them search for new jobs.
The reason they qualify, and here's the bad news, is that their jobs left the country.
They are among the thousands of New Hampshire workers who have seen their jobs disappear just over the last several years.
But as NHPR's Mark Bevis reports, what was once a cause of concern has become a fact of life.

New Hampshire-born singer-songwriter Laurel Brauns is back in her home state after spending several years in the Portland Oregon music scene. She's bounced around the globe, from Alaska to Ireland, and all of her travels have colored her music. Her latest album is called "Periphery", and she's working on a new one now. She joins host Shay Zeller to talk about her career and to play a few of her new songs.

We'll look at how veterinary medicine has changed during his tenure and how people's attitudes about their pets have changed as well. Laura's guest is Clifford W. During November/December 2004, NHPR News and The Exchange looked at the history, culture and effects of alcohol in the Granite State. The overlooking alcohol series was awarded an Honorable Mention for 2004 Best Documentary by the New Hampshire Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
