Public Concerned Over Coyote Night Hunting

Over 70 people attended a public hearing at the department of Fish and Game in Concord last night. They were there to talk about proposed rule changes to wildlife hunting. But one particular issue dominated the meeting…a proposal that would extend the night hunting coyote season through the summer. New Hampshire Public Radio’s Rebecca Kaufman has more.

NH Congressmen to vote on Energy Bill

The US House of Representatives plans to debate a wide ranging energy bill next week.

The majority of Republicans are expected to support the bill.

But they may have to pass it without the help of Congressmen Bass and Bradley.

NHPR Correspondent Julie Donnelly reports that a few controversial provisions may cost the bill it's support from New Hampshire's delegation.

Bass and Bradley Like the Bankruptcy Bill

The US House of Representatives is on the verge of approving wide ranging bankruptcy reform.

Supporters of the bill say it will crack down on people who are abusing the system.

Opponents say it's a harsh blow that removes the possibility of a "fresh start" for those who are in financial trouble.

As NHPR Correspondent Julie Donnelly reports from Washington, all four members of the New Hampshire delegation support the bill.

House Committee Votes to Raise Cigarette Tax

A New Hampshire Legislative Committee voted overwhelmingly yesterday to increase the state's cigarette tax by 28 cents.

The increase would raise 87 million dollars.

But several committee members were unsatisfied with the tax hike.

They said it didn't raise enough money.
