Voices Against Violence

More than 14,000 people in New Hampshire sought help from domestic and sexual violence crisis centers in the year. One of them was a Plymouth woman, who went to Voices Against Violence after leaving her abuser and found emotional support, shelter and help with resources so she could stay safe.

Jess from Manchester was having trouble in high school because of anxiety issues. When the Alliance for Community Supports found an internship for Jess at a farm, where she found something she loved. She's now preparing to study for a career working with animals and feels confident about the future.

Christa McAuliffe Planetarium

Vinnie Devino worked in the Apollo Program as a designer. Now retired, he volunteers at the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium to pass on what he learned and to inspire kids to take an active interest in astronomy, space and aeronautics.

Childhood Cancer Lifeline

Maureen Hade of Manchester was trying to help her son Dane through difficult cancer treatment. She found support in talking with a Childhood Cancer Lifeline volunteer who knew what she was going through. Dane is seven now, and knows he's a survivor.

Lutheran Social Services

Adam Smith of Concord had to leave his native Liberia because of violence. Lutheran Social Services helped him find an apartment, a job and other necessities on his arrival.

New Hampshire Preservation Alliance

With a grant from the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, Eric Ledbetter of Contoocook was able to preserve the 200 year old barn on his apple orchard - as well as a small piece of New Hampshire's heritage.

Pittsfield Youth Workshop
