Section 8 is a federal subsidy that helps people afford low-income housing. Because of the change, local housing officials are facing budget shortfalls that could force up rents as soon as July. And those who have spent years on a waiting list for a Section 8 voucher are being told they'll have to wait even longer. New Hampshire Public Radio's Dan Gorenstein has this report. Painting Divides TownBy Lisa Peakes on Monday, June 21, 2004.A group of friends bought a painting of the Madonna and child for 32 hundred dollars at a Dublin Community Church auction last summer. Turns out the painting is the lost third of a 14th century panel. Sotheby's Auction House in New York sold it for nearly a half million dollars. Morning Edition host Lisa Peakes talks with Rick O'Connor, one of the 6 friends who bought the painting, about how the purchase has caused a rift in the town. |
