Adoption Issues

Some Granite State adoptees may be thinking about tracking their birth mothers down. New legislation might make it easier. We'll look at that and the issues surrounding adoption in New Hampshire. Mike's guests are Ann McLane Kuster, shareholder and director at the law firm of Rath, Young and Pignatelli. She's a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and maintains a private adoption practice. Also on the program is Representative Janet Allen from Center Barnstead who sits on the Children and Family Law House Committee.

Wooden Spoons

Dan Dustin is a wood artisan and spoon maker from Contoocook. He's been using his own unique method of making wooden spoons for 30 years. He begins by going into the woods, and "finding" the spoons within the branches of trees. He says the trees make the spoons, he just discovers them. His spoons cost as much as $100.
In recent years, Dan has begun teaching his craft. He'll have a new class starting soon at the Kimball-Jenkins Community Art School in Concord; for information, call 225-3932.

Gloucester's Fishing Industry Braces Itself

New federally mandated rules are taking effect that aim to rebuild ground fish stocks.

But the new rules cut New England fishermen's days at sea.

And with the loss of work comes a loss of money to the quintessential fishing town.

House Backs Cigarette Tax To Fund Education
