Spiders and Tigers and Bears...Oh, Sy!

Hancock resident Sy Montgomery is best known for her books about wildlife and travels to the far corners of the world. Along the way, she has adapted some of her research for a younger audience with Encantado: Pink Dolphin of the Amazon and The Man-Eating Tigers of Sundarbans. She has also written The Snake Scientist and The Tarantula Scientist- which is just out this month- for Houghton Mifflin’s Scientists in the Field Series.
Sy will be showing slides and speaking about The Tarantula Scientist at the Harris Center in Hancock this Sunday the 7th at 3:00 pm.

Town Meetings

It's town meeting season in New Hampshire. Residents across the state gather this month to debate and vote on local issues ranging from school budgets to replacing fire engines. We'll talk about what the big issues are for towns this year. And we'll hear from local newspaper reporters and editors about what's happening in their neck of the woods. Mike's guest for the hour is Susan Slack, Legal Services Counsel with the New Hampshire Municipal Association. New Hampshire Democrats React to Kerry's nomination

The de facto nomination of John Kerry as the Democratic presidential candidate leaves the voters who supported other candidates in a not uncommon position. Their first choice is out of the running. Now they must come to terms with the choice that remains.

New Hampshire Public Radio's Doug MacPherson has been talking with Democrats in the Seacoast area who backed other candidates, to see how - and if - they're getting ready to embrace John Kerry as their nominee.
