The Old Man of Merrimack

For centuries, believers across the world have reported seeing the image of the Virgin Mary from the shadows on walls to the middle of corn fields. He may not be the Madonna, but for many New Hampshire residents, the Old Man of the Mountain took on almost spiritual importance. So maybe it shouldn't surprise Granite Staters if they start hearing about Old Man sightings.

The Story of Bill W. and Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous started out in 1935 with the meeting of Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith, two alcoholics who found that through fellowship and following a 12-step program of recovery, could stop their drinking. Almost 70 years later, Alcoholic Anonymous has 100,000 groups and 2 million members worldwide. Mike Arnold's guest is Susan Cheever, author of "My Name is Bill: Bill Wilson - His Life and the Creation of Alcoholics Anonymous".

A Time Before New Hampshire

The place we now call New Hampshire has been around a long time- billions of years of geology, millions of years of life, and thousands of years of human habitation. Michael Caduto is author of A Time Before New Hampshire, a new book that explores the geological, ecological, and archeological history of the state, long before white settlers. Michael is also a storyteller and singer who does programs about the environment in schools and is the author of serveral children's books about earth tales from around the world.

UNH Goes to the Playoffs at the Verizon Center

The spring thaw got an early start this year in New Hampshire… but while some of the ice has melted outdoors, it’s still hockey season. This weekend, the University of New Hampshire men’s team plays in the NCAA tournament. The Wildcats are one of four teams in the Northeast regional at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The winner goes on to the Frozen Four, on April 8th at the Fleet Center in Boston.
Joining me to preview this weekend’s regional is veteran sports reporter Jim Jeannotte. Jim, thanks for joining us today.
