An Eye for an Eye?

By James Farrell on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

There has been a flurry of advertising activity in New Hampshire. Edwards, Lieberman, Clark, Kerry, Dean and even Dennis Kucinich are running television ads. Kerry is also running a radio spot, the first by any candidate in this primary season.

Joe Lieberman is still taking strategic risks. Last week he was against discrimination. Now he is "the only one" opposing terrorism and tyranny. Thank God!

Iowa Drift

By Ted Jastrzembski on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

Opinions drifting my way prompted by the recent televised Iowa debates: "Anyone of them is better than Bush". Dean seemed the least relaxed probably because everyone is going after him. Wild Man Kucinich might have some added appeal to women voters--not because of his vegan diet but because he wants to bring the troops home right away. Best question was Dean's getting a show of hands on solidarity behind the Democratic candidate--whoever it is. Lieberman comes across as shrill and somewhat disingenuous using the Iowa stage, given he has dropped out of that contest. Kerry comes across as very presidential--but he is just so dour.

Presidential GLBT Issues

By Laura Knoy on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

We continue our series on the issues and the Democratic Candidates for President with a look at those affecting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered Americans. Gay Marriage has become one of the greatest hot button issues of 2003, and many feel the issue alone could make or break the elections of 2004. We'll look at what the candidates are saying, and not saying about issues surrounding GLBT including Don't Ask, Don't tell, hate crimes and faith-based initiatives. Laura's guests are Andy Smith, director of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center Fred Kuhr, Editor of In News Weekly, New England's only regional GLBT Newspaper and Representative Jim Splaine, an openly gay State Representative from Portsmouth.

Home State Record: Joe Lieberman

By Heather Claborn on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

All this week New Hampshire Public Radio has been broadcasting a series in which we look at the home-state records of the Democratic presidential candidates.

Today we focus on Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman.

While many thought his name recognition from the 2000 election would put him near the top of the field, his history as a moderate democrat is not lighting any fires.

From WNPR, Connecticut Public Radio, Heather Claborn reports.
