Researchers, teachers and state officials met earlier this month at "New Hampshire Healthy Schools Day" to talk about strategies for dealing with the problem. One approach is to get schools and families working together to promote better nutrition and more exercise for kids. The money will help NHTI expand its dental hygienist training program. Hygienists and nurses head the list of health professionals that are in short supply in the Granite State.
