The Way Home

Kelly from Manchester called The Way Home when she discovered her son James had lead poisioning. They helped to clean up the lead in Kelly's apartment and worked with her landlord to help her quickly find a new home. James's lead level has since gone down by half.

Seacoast Science Center

Bert Metheny is a volunteer naturalist at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye. He says kids love touching seaweed or seeing a crab for the first time, and they develop respect for their environment in the process.

The Family Center of Greater Peterborough

Kimi Hata was pregnant when she first moved to Peterborough, but she spoke little English and much of her family was still in Japan. The Family Center of Greater Peterborough helped her learn to care for her baby and introduced her to other mothers.

Sad Café

Jeff Hemingway started a band at an afterschool program at the Sad Café in Kingston. He says he'd "probably just be watching a lot of TV" without the program.

Harbor Homes

Marilyn of Nashua was living in a campground with her children. Harbor Homes helped her find an apartment, so her kids could stay in one school and she could find a steady job.

New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence

Michelle St. Laurent is a survivor of domestic violence. She says New Hampshire's laws protecting those who have lived through abuse, which were passed thanks to efforts of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, saved her life.

Yo Gallery

The Yo Gallery invites kids of many backgrounds into the world of the arts. Erin Blanchard of Manchester West High School is one of them; she says she's discovered a whole new world at the gallery and wants to be a professional artist.

Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter

Rob Tubbs has adopted two dogs from the Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter. One of them, Olivia, was found badly abused in the millyard. But after receiving good care at the shelter, she's living a happy life with Rob.

New Hampshire Audubon Society

Joanne O'Shaunnessy of Manchester monitors bald eagles for the Audubon Society of New Hampshire. She says people gasp in awe when they see eagles in the wild.
