Legality of Civil Unions Called into Question

Some lawmakers and anti-civil union activists are concerned New Hampshire law is dangerously inconsistent on whether civil unions are legal.

A House Committee heard two hours of testimony on a measure that aims to close that loophole.

New Legal Claim Adds Wrinkle to Malpractice Debate

The state House Judiciary Committee holds a hearing this afternoon on a controversial legal principle that allows juries to award higher damages in medical lawsuits.

It’s called “loss of opportunity.” And it’s exactly the opposite of what Governor Craig Benson wants.

Proposed Cuts Worry Rural Doctors, Clinic

Governor Craig Benson?s proposed state budget reduces Medicaid reimbursement rates by 5%. Medical providers say New Hampshire?s reimbursement rates are already too low. Rural doctors and hospitals say the cuts will make it even more difficult to deal with soaring healthcare costs? And for low-income families to get the healthcare they need.
